Interfaith Volunteer Services
Our volunteers can visit with individuals in their homes or connect through a reassuring phone conversation. Visits may be as short as 15 minutes or as long as an hour.
Volunteers can assist individuals by helping to make shopping lists, then do the necessary shopping and deliver the items to the care recipient. Volunteers may also accompany care recipients to assist with their shopping or other errands. All costs fo the items purchased are the responsibility of the care recipient.
Trained volunteers spend time in the homes of individuals suffering from Alzheimer's and memory loss, giving their primary caregivers time away for essential personal business or other needs.
Transportation
Volunteers provide a ride to and/or from a care receiver's destination including rides to church, the grocery store, doctor's visits, and more.
Become a pen pal with a care receiver and write friendly letters.
Volunteers are available on a limited basis to assist with small yard work including mowing, raking, brush removal, gutter cleaning, snow shoveling, and more. Because these volunteers are limited and are assigned for an entire season, we recommend requesting assistance early in the season.
Services may include minor cleaning, cooking, letter writing, paying bills, reading, etc.
Home Repair program does minor repairs and maintenance inside or outside the care receiver's home. Interfaith volunteers are not able to install weight-bearing devices.
Care recievers can listen to the Stevens Point Journal and Portage County Gazette on cd each week.
